Question

Answer

  • How do I search for resources in TTRB? Top

    Answer :

The TTRB Search can be found at the top of each page on the TTRB site.  Look for the box containing the phrase "Add your keyword here" in the blue bar towards the top of the page.

    1. Type the keyword or keywords that you are searching with into the box.
    2. Select one option from "All words", "Any words" or "Exact phrase".
    3. Click on the light blue "SEARCH" button on the right hand side of the page.

You can refine the results of your search further by using the "Refine results" panel on the left hand side of the page.

  • How do I filter my results? Top

    Answer :

Use the "Refine results" panel on the left hand side of the page.

    1. Select one option from either "TTRB" or "TTRB & Sub portals".  Selecting "TTRB" will mean that the results will only include articles on the TTRB.  Selecting "TTRB & Sub portals" will ensure that the results include articles from TTRB and associated sites, such as Multiverse and Behaviour4Learning.
    2. You may filter your results by "Curriculum Area", "Key Stage" or "Resource". To do this, select one option from the relevant drop-down box. Your list of results will then be filtered to show only those articles which are related to the selected area. You may select to apply one, two, or all of the filters, but may only select one option from each.
  • How do I ask the E-librarian a question? Top

    Answer :

If you haven’t found what you need in the TTRB, you can ask our Elibrarian to search elsewhere for you.  On the TTRB website you can find the E-librarian link on the right hand side of the Home Page.

It will help if you can be as precise as possible about the sort of things you are hoping to find, e.g.  specifying curriculum subjects, key stages, etc. when appropriate.  To speed up the process, please tell us where you have already searched and what you have found useful.

You will need to register with the TTRB before asking the E-librarian a question.  This is so that the E-librarian has your email address in order to send a response.

  • How do I use the BEI Thesaurus? Top

    Answer :

Resources in the TTRB site are categorised using keywords from the British Education Index Thesaurus. You can use words or phrases from this thesaurus when searching for resources in the site:

    1. In the Advanced search options click "Append with BEI keyword".  Enter a term or phrase in the new window and click "Lookup".  A list of related terms or phrases from the BEI Thesaurus will be displayed.  Either select a term or phrase to include in your search and click "Append", or refine your search by selecting a term and clicking "Lookup".  Please note that resources in TTRB are categorised using 'Preferred Terms'; searching with 'Non-Preferred', 'Related', 'Narrower' or 'Broader' terms may produce fewer results.
    2. Click "Close" to exit the BEI Thesaurus window.

Click on the link to visit the homepage of the British Education Index.
